Welcome to Cards by Amy K.

I am SO GLAD you stopped by to check out my blog!!! Here I will be posting my current projects for you to see. PLEASE feel free to leave me a comment. I would LOVE to hear what you think about what I'm working on. I have been a scrapbooker/paper crafter since I first caught wind of this wonderful hobby in 2006. I am lucky enough to get to spend my days doing something I love so much and which brings so much joy into my life. I first started scrapbooking as a way to pass the time as I found myself at home alone all day suddenly, now I can't imagine life without it. Too bad I don't get paid for it, then I really would have it all!!!

Happy Mother's Day gifts for my Mom-in-law 2012

My two Mother's day gifts are very similar in design all tho the colors are different.  I made the two cards very different tho.  This post is about the gifts and card I made for my Mother in law.  I will be uploading a different post about my Mother's gifts.  So for this set that I made the MIL I used pink as the primary color.  for the card base I used Ga. pacific white to make the card then inked around the edges in pink chalk ink.  I then layered a piece of designer paper from GCD'S Home spun Chic collection.  I just loved how "girlie" their papers in this line are.  I, of course, used my cricut mini with the gypsy to design the elements for this card.  I used the Elegant Edges cartridge for the label shape and the shadow feature that goes along with it, and I used Celebrate with Flourish for the title piece.  I added some dew drops from recollections and some seam binding from Martha Stewart and finally a pink flower from Recollections.

I made each of my Mother's one of these frames and they both contained this saying (I just changed the colors accordingly).  First I painted the wooden frame with pink around the edges and around the opening in the center as they would show.  I painted the back with a couple of layers of Gesso to cover up any pink overage I may have been messy with lol. I then used my Ranger, Glue and Seal to glue down the designer paper from K & co. and then to go over the tops to seal it. after that was dry I went back and added some cut away pieces of dollies and used the glue and seal on them too.

For the spray and decoration on the left side, I used a pink beaded and butterfly spray that I got from Micheal's.  The white satin flower comes from the wedding department at Hobby Lobby and I used my glimmer mist to paint the leaves on it green altho it didn't show up too much.  I also used  the cricut here to cut out a background leaves shape and layed it down behind all the other flowers and the spray.  If you click on the picture you can get a better look at what flowers I used.  I used some recollections leaves, and I believe that large pink flower is also from recollections, the pink and purple flower are some from the wedding department at the craft store.  I also used some recollections bling for the bottom left and top right.  There's also a Wild orchid crafts flower in the top left.  and some sweet heart blooms, I believe they are called.
The graphic print is a download from the Internet, sorry but I forgot to write down where I got it from and I get them from so many places that I dare not even guess. lol, sorry.
This bag was just a plain white bag from Micheal's.  I used the Cricut for decorating this bag too.  I was able to use my mini machine along with the gypsy to design my cuts.  I used the "Flower Shoppe" project cartridge for the large flower.  I'm not certain of the size I used to cut out the pieces to the flower but it was somewhere between 4 and 5''.  I then used the "Florals Embellished" cartridge to cut out the Mother's Day saying and I basically just used the gypsy to cut it as long as I could and still have it fit nicely on the bag, I knew the bag was 8" x 10" so I knew how big to make the cut.

Well, here we are, finally to the end of a very long post.  I've got one more to make for My Mother's gift but I think I am going to refer back to this post for most of the information because the projects were so similar in design.  Thanks for sticking with me till the end.  I hope you had a wonderful Mother's day.
